Helen Comellas Edwards serves as outside General Counsel to small and mid-sized businesses, working directly with the owners and their executive teams to assist with the legal components of their day-to-day operations. Helen also assists with the development and implementation of the business succession and estate plans for the owners.

Helen further provides services to clients in the areas of estate planning, estate and trust administration, probate, and guardianship. Helen serves as an Attorney Ad Litem for the local probate courts, in guardianship and heirship cases.

Helen is a Fellow of the Travis County Women Lawyers Foundation and the Texas Bar Foundation.

Helen is honored to serve as an Outside Director on the Board of 1st National Bank Texas, headquartered in Killeen, Texas.  

Helen worked primarily as a litigator early in her career, serving as Counsel first at Kevin Cole, and then at Fulbright & Jaworski in the defense of employers in constitutional and employment law claims, and as a trial team member in cases involving violations of non-compete agreements and misappropriation of trade secrets. Helen has also provided litigation support and served as second-chair in commercial cases, working closely with a litigation boutique 2007 – 2013. Helen rejoined the boutique’s team to assist with special projects 2018 to 2020.

Helen grew up in Austin and is a graduate of the 2004 class of the University of Texas School of Law. Helen’s son, Aidan, is a graduate of Anderson High School.
